The Department of Business Management and MTroops has organised a game called
“Promote your Product.”
Product Promotion means disseminating the information about
the product, product line, brand and company to the prospective buyers with the intent to
generate sales and develop a brand loyalty. The basic purpose of promotion is to persuade
customers to buy and primarily includes three types of sales activity: Advertising, Personal
Selling, and Sales Promotion. The importance of product promotion lies in the fact, that no
firm can survive in the market without reaching the customers effectively and could not
compete with other market players if no unique benefits are offered to the customers.
The second years have taken a snippet from this marketing strategy and came up with a
game which includes promotion of products like compact powder, furniture, purses, pasta,
electronic gadgets like laptops, televisions, refrigerators, smart boards, air conditioners,
vacuum cleaners, etc. The real challenge was to try and convince rural customers to buy
usually urban utilised products. The second years took up this as a challenge and succeeded
in convincing villagers to buy their products by using various promotion strategies such as
discounted rates, features accommodating rural mindsets and requirements,
impressionable talk, persuasion, etc.
It was interesting to witness the promotion of products
indulging the students in joy and excitement.
