World Tourism Day 2021

The Department of Business Management has organized various activities on occasion of World Tourism Day on 29th September 2021 in the college campus. Objective: World Tourism Day Celebrations Participated and targeted group: BBM Second years and Final Years Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day as international observances on September 27. This date was chosen as on that day in 1970, the Statutes of the UNWTO were adopted. The adoption of these Statutes is considered a milestone in global tourism. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide. The theme of the day was "sustainable tourism", in 2017. In 2018 the theme was "Tourism and the Digital Transformation". In 2019 the theme was "Tourism and Jobs: a better future for all" and in 2020 the theme was: "Tourism and Rural Development". The 2021 theme is "Tourism for Inclusive Growth". The official colour of Tourism is blue. After a brief introduction about World Tourism Day and its significance, the students have explained the significance of tourism to any country and how it contributes to the economic growth of a country. The students conducted a fun game where the participants must guess the place based on the pictures displayed of the places’ iconic animals, statues, sculptures, birds, etc. The game was extremely competitive and filled with laughter. Then was the time for another game where the students were to guess the word based on their missing letters. The students also conducted a quiz, testing the knowledge of the participants about various tourist attractions. The students were then given two pictures of the same landscape and were asked to guess which place was Indian and which was foreign. They were also asked to name the places. It was pleasantly surprising to see how many beautiful places are hidden as treasures in our country. Outcome: The students learnt how fascinating tourism is as an industry and as entertainment. They also learnt the rich and marvelous history of various tourist attractions in India. The students has so much fun and the session was a perfect example of entertainment via education. The activities were extremely engaging and interactive.
